A brisk morning in February marked the opening of Dex’s Master Ceremony.  Maitre Thomas stepped forward and tapped his Roissy ring, signaling time to settle and start now. 

W E L C O M I  N G    D O M I N A N T

“Welcome all my friends and a warm thank you for joining us this morning as we celebrate the perseverance that Dex (ckdexter.howley) has shown to completing his journey and achieving his full Master tag, and now joins the ranks of the many fine Masters of Roissy Val d'Oise.”

“After applicants receive their Dominant role and begin work on their path tasks, they get excited and start to chase girls.” coughs, laughs “Just kidding.  This journey is where one seeks to learn and complete work and yet learn a great deal about themselves and the others around them. They find the others around them, both Dominants and submissives alike teaching one another from their wealth of wisdom.  Dex has contributed to our home, with art exhibits and many other things, thank you brother, we do appreciate you.”

“At Roissy Val d'Oise, we believe that being a Master of the Chateau is an achievement to be truly earned through hard effort, education and practical experience exercising new concepts.  Instead of handing our Dominant and submissive tags that can role play to any warm body that shows up here, like other sims, rather we ask our Dominants to demonstrate their diligence in learning about our culture here at VdO and BDSM in general, to express their knowledge and understanding of critical components in this lifestyle and to exhibit skill in building creative, enjoyable and erotic scenes with the submissive women in our community.” Thomas nods to the Dominants and submissives gathered today, "We are a cut above the rest here at Roissy Val d'Oise."

T H E    C O N F I R M E N T

“Before I turn the floor over to Dex and his guest speakers, I wish to present his Master ring that has been made for the Masters of Roissy VdO. So Dex on behalf of Rene, I give this to you as well as one who now joins the ranks of the Masters of the Chateau." Thomas walked over to him, offering him the ring. "We are honored to have you in our community as we are with the rest of our family here. I know that you will continue the hard work you have demonstrated so far as you continue this next part of your journey in our community."

Dex nodded and smiled at Thomas, slipping the ring on his finger as Thomas offered his hand to Dex, the offer met with a firm shake back as Dex added “Thank you Thomas, my brother.” Thomas replied with a warm “You are welcome, and congratulations, Dex well done.”

The space was filled with bright and warm applause, then after Maitre Thomas sat, Dex spoke “It is my pleasure and honour to introduce a Dominant that really needs no introduction... the Mistress of the Improv, Petra.. who will lie on my behalf.”

H O N O R E D    D O M I N A N T    S P E E C H

Mistress Petra rose to her feet, “Oh why thank you, Dex.”  then turned to face the assembled crowd “I was deeply honored and indeed thrilled when Dex ask if I would speak at this, his Master Ceremony.  My introduction to Dex came in the form of a candid photograph which he sent to me in IMs one day as we both attended a workshop.  I was immediately taken with the artistry he had managed to imbue in this shot, which by the way made me look a little like Catherine Deneuve.  We introduced ourselves and found we had a good deal in common.  We are both academics, love theater and art, both Dominant in nature and, as I was to learn, shared a love for Roissy.  There are many words I could use to describe Dex.  Here are a few.”

“Dominant.  This is clear and present, and from the heart and gut with Dex.  He is what I admire most in a Dominant, or for that matter, in any person, and that is self awareness.  He has a huge rich personality but never an inflated ego.  His Dominance comes from an internal impetus and is never a ‘role’ he assumes.”

“Artist.  Dex has a unique and rich vision which he has shared with our community so generously in his exhibits and in his Master's event, his calendar featuring the women of Roissy.”

“Elegant.  Oh yes, Dex exhibits this quality in his reasoning, manner of comportment and aesthetic.  He makes me think of those matinee idols of the past.  A man who can wear tails as easily and naturally as others don ballcaps.”

“Generous. Dex shows his generosity in the way he shares himself not only with close friends but with anyone in his family who needs him.  I know this, that being on the receiving end of Dex's support and approbation is something. very special.”

“Integrity.  He has this in spades.  His word is gold and he backs up what he says with his morality and his actions.”

“...and finally… Joyous.  I think I love this part of Dex most.  He has that rare quality of being able to remember how to ‘play’  and this, I believe, is the source of that joy that is so large a part of his character and the gift he brings with him wherever he goes.  It's contagious.  It's wonderful .  It’s Dex.”

“So today,“ She turned to Dex “I will raise my glass to you, my dear friend with my heart full of joy, for you and your achievement we celebrate.  Congratulations, Master Dex.  Please continue to share the amazing man you are with all of us and let us bask in the goodness and light of your joy.  Well done, my brother and friend.”

Dex rose again and replied to Petra “Thank you my beautiful friend.  I will speak more about you in a moment.” then leaned over and kissed her hand, then looked over to Maya “But now I'm pleased to present the woman who was brave enough to share my final with me and we both survived. The beautiful Maya.”  he lifted Maya off her cushion and kissed her cheek.

F I N A L   S C E N E   S I S T E R   S P E E C H

Maya Rose smiled up to Master Dex as she stood nervously "Thank you Master Dex." and smiled softly. "Greetings Maitres/Maitresses, Masters/Mistresses, Sirs/Misses, Sisters, Demoiselles, Debutantes and Visitors. I am so happy to be here to speak for Master Dex."

“Master Dex and I met not long after he arrived at Roissy VdO.  We spoke many times and enjoyed each other’s company while dancing.  He asked me to do a scene with him for his log.  Even at that time he showed his advanced multi-vast knowledge of BDSM”. She smiled to him and those around “Maitre Thomas asked me if I would be willing to do Master Dex's final scene to advance to Master and I enthusiastically stated 'Yes’ to him. I was truly excited about scening with him once again.  He was proficient in every area of the tasks that he was required to perform.”

Maya chuckled softly as her misfit eyes glanced over to Master Dex “During the scene, Master Dex was attentive to my every need.  He was consistently IM'ing me and checking to make sure I was doing alright. He displayed compassion, respect and most of all a dominant nature that made the scene delicious. He was persistent in his attempts after the scene to follow up with me to assure that I was doing well. I support his advancement to Master.  Master Dex will bring to our community his intelligence and caring nature that will help assist many of the submissives to advance forward upon their paths. Interns that come and assign to Master Dex will be guided with ease and understanding.” 

She turned to him “I would like to say thank you Master Dex for allowing me to work with you during this time of transition and I hope that we can experience other scenes in the future.  You are a man of integrity and compassion.  I wish you luck in all your future things you do here at Roissy VdO. Congratulations Master Dex.”  She slowly walked over and leaned down giving him a soft kiss, then turned and knelt upon the cushion.

Dex wrapped his arms around Maya and kissed her cheek back "Thank you love, you are most generous." then looked out at the rows of smiling faces (mostly). “Ah.. this is what I like... a captive audience.  Thank you A/all for coming today. You are most kind. In fact, you are EVERY kind! :)  I'm honored by your support.  Someone nudge me when the kickoff is near.. I am a man of few words.. lol... and I have a lot to say…”

M A S T E R    S P E E C H

“2017 was a helluva year. I joined Roissy in December of 2016 after having done a bit of research about the place. After having left a year’s long D/s monogamous relationship, I looked for an SL community that would be supportive and adult and not filled with morons, griefers and adolescents that make up 90% of the SL world. I was immediately impressed by the structure and thoughtfulness of this community. The classes, the protection of the Debutantes, the intelligence of most of the adults here and the overall politeness of this community make it quite unique in Second Life.”

“I came here to work towards a polyamorous SL lifestyle and explore my own D/s journey. And the last year has been quite a journey. I had thought to leave VdO several times, because, just as in real life and every other place in Second Life, Roissy is not without its drama, heartaches, conflicts and frustrations. I would not be here today if it wasn't for the support and encouragement of many people here. Some of them are, sadly, no longer part of the community, but that does not mean they are any less responsible for my journey. I want to thank everyone who helped me with my log throughout this last year.”

“I need to single some people out. The first person I met when I arrived here was Ju. In fact, I dropped on her head. She was and is kind, supportive and helpful. Her insights into the D/s relationship and poly relationships has been eye-opening for me.  I'm ever so grateful for our time together, better or worse.”  Ju trembled a little, and lowered her eyes, trying but failing not to cry. Dex looked at Ju and took her hand... “You are always, always special to me little one.”

Dex turned and looked at Xana  “Then there is Xanadu.”  Hearing his words of her, Xana looked upward to Master Dex, bit her lip gently then winked as she smiled and remained silent. “I don't think Roissy truly understands what a backbone Xana is to this sim. All administrators need our support for their tireless support. It is not an easy job to carry on the day to day of a community like this, especially when most of what they have to deal with is drama, complaints and very few compliments. Xanadu encouraged me all the way through this entire year. ‘Where are you on your path? How many I help you? Perhaps you should try this or that?’ 

It was Xanadu that suggested the photo calendar project that I focused on for several months before Christmas. When the curator (at the time) of the gallery left the sim the day before my photo show opening, Xanadu massed the troupes of Dems and Sisters and took over setting up for my show. I stood back with my jaw on the floor as those ladies swooped in and took over... subs indeed! ;) I am forever grateful to you Xana.”

Xanadu replied “My pleasure Master Dex.” as Dex leaned down and whispered to Xana kissing her cheek "The log IS complete now sweetie, you can stop poking me with a stick."  There was a soft round of laughter as Dex continued “Many others deserve my praise for their support and generosity. Thomas, of course, for his steadfast and dogged adherence to the rule of law ;). Juliette for her insights when I first arrived.  Maya for her infectious enthusiasm (the only thing infectious about her, I assure you) and for inspiring me to create a match for her workshop 'Blow His Mind' with my 'The Fine Art of Dining on a Sub'. We did them in tandem and there wasn't a dry cushion in the house. Maya graciously agreed to do my final task scene and she is as creative as she is beautiful."

Dex looked down at Keira  “Beautiful Keira, always there, always supportive, always loving, always intelligent and thoughtful.” Keira looked up and smiled at the new Master. Dex then searched the patio for Muffin “Playful Muffin, always poking and playing and causing mischief. She is a constant source of joy and laughter; something very very valuable in this sometimes very sombre and sober community of ours.” Leilani lifted her head, blue eyes twinkling as Dex continued “I assure you Lei, now that I'm Master, any further burying of stone dicks in the garden will be severely punished. You too, Bonnie.”  Leilani adjusted her halo, “Yes Master Dex.” as Bonnie snorted.

“LovelyBrat, Mykal, Llarik, Turrner, sefa, Sal, syn, Bonnie, Blue, Venna, Dove, Diamond, fae... so many fascinating and wonderful people I've been privileged to know and call friends, and Mistress Petra.”  He looked at the radiant Dominant. “What can anyone say about this tour de force of a woman?  It is a true honour to have you standing up for me here today and to call you my good friend. You have breathed more life into this community than anyone I know. You are one of the big reasons I continue to be here. You challenge us to be better people. You challenge us to think and learn and most of all EXPERIENCE and find joy in our community and relationships.”

“You are a remarkable woman and I've so enjoyed supporting your events and you supporting mine. I've enjoyed having you as a confidante and co-conspirator. I've even enjoyed watching you surf! ;) Thank you my friend. Finally, to this community as a whole. (here comes the professor lecture)”

Petra interjected “Oh Dex,” full out tearful now, “You are amazing and I thank you for those too kind words.”

Dex replied with a “Shhh Petra... I'm speaking ;)” and grinned. Petra retorted “No, it’s my turn I was last on your list.” and laughed.

Dex continued “We are a spectrum. We are all coming here for personal reasons and those reasons are hugely wide-ranging. The Story of O may have deep significant meaning for you or it may just be that this community, in its support of SSC BDSM lifestyle is a safe haven and excellent resource where you can safely meet, play, discuss and share your own particular lifestyle choices and the ‘Story’ doesn't have as much significance to you personally. It doesn't matter. We all need to support each other regardless of our lifestyle choices or reasons for being here. And we all need to protect each other against those that would take advantage of the vulnerable or show any kind of prejudice against any one of us for our choices.”

“Are you a pain-slut? Does your kink involve needles? Does the person next to you have a kink that makes you queasy? It doesn't matter. Whatever floats your particular boat. You don't need to participate in that other than to say, I support you in your journey towards self-awareness. As long as everyone remembers that your rights END where another person's rights BEGIN.  And those of us in this lifestyle should be the MOST tolerant because we know how difficult it is to cross societal norms.  So support this community by supporting those in it for their differences and not calling names or reinforcing stereotypes.”

“I know I'm long winded, but here is my final thought. Please please please have FUN! Yes there is a lot of pain and anguish associated with these lifestyles, but it should be celebrated for its joys as well. I think the ‘Safe, Sane and Consensual’ concept should be amended to SSCF ... Safe Sane Consensual AND FUN! Find the JOY in your journey and share that joy with others.And with that I just say...

Another round of applause and congratulations for the accomplishment rang out as the audience offered their appreciation of his speech.  Maitre Thomas walked to the chilling champagne and asked "Annie, what do we have today?" though the SL gods chose right then to whisk Annie away, leaving the determination to Maitre.

T H E   T O A S T 

Thomas tapped his Master's ring loudly on the glass, asking everyone to settle down for a moment. “Thank you.   Everyone grab a glass of champagne to toast the new Master.  To Master Dex!”  Thomas downed the champagne and handed the empty flute to his girl. “I also wish to take the opportunity to also thank Rene, for providing all of this for us, for having the vision to bring us all together,  we are a large diverse group with many things to share, and It warms my heart for having all of this to share with each and everyone.”

“A few announcements… Smooth Sunday is canceled today so we can all watch Tom Brady get sent home to Gisele a loser.  Mistress Derry chimed in “Send me home to her in any condition!” and Thomas continued “Please join us for Dex's party immediately in the gardens. Sting is itching .. I see.  Yes, Everyone is dismissed,  Please enjoy the party and the rest of your day.”  Dex shook Thomas' hand once more “Thank you Thomas…” as Thomas replied,

"Well, you are in the big leagues now, my brother."
