DELILAH LECKER

"Hopeless Romantic"

August 29 - September 20, 2015

Meet the Artist Reception: Saturday, August 29 @ 11 am  - 12 pm slt

We are very happy to find budding talent in Second Life, and Delilah promises to be the creator of wonderfully romantic art. Her talent speaks for itself.

Shy and insecure about her work, I found her to be charming and quite refreshing.

Referred to me by Good Cross, another Artist whose work has appeared in our Gallery, it was not suprirsing to learn that he is her inspiration when I asked "What inspires you?" Delilah shared that if it were not for his support and encouragment she " would never have even considered doing something like this and the fun i have had doing it has been amazing, we have different tastes in art and have argued over what we consider is awesome art but he has made me see art with different eyes and i love and thank him for that."

Her creative process begins with different scenarios on her land, where she sets up all her scenes in world "and then fiddle[s] around with them in gimp."

Delilah has been creating in Secoond Life for about three years, although she has taken some breaks, but only when her mind goes blank and she can't think of "of a single thing to create."

When I asked her, "Who is your favorite artist and why? " she felt it was "a difficult question to answer " as  there are so many that she admires. She explained that in the flickrr community, she most admires Skip Stabell, "as his work is just incredible and i think all us second life flickrites inspire to be as good as him one day." She also admitted she loves all of Good Cross' work.

She describes her own style as "mostly dark" with "a hidden meaning" that she herself has not yet discovered yet.

A self-confessed "hopeless romantic," Delilah loves pretty things and loves love, but feels her artwork makes her come across as nothing like that, so she sometimes adds a little bit of "prettiness occasionally so people don't think i am weird."

When I asked her, "Which of your works is your favorite, and why?" here's what she had to say:

"I think my Bitter sweet symphony is my favorite as it again tells a story, i posted it on valentines day of two people laying side by side against a gravestone but its not a negative about valentines , its about losing my father on valentines day and i miss him so its actually sort of sweet... bittersweet ."

Come find out for yourself on August 29, when we hold her Meet the Artist Reception. I think you'll find her work to your likening.
