At the time the descendants of Genghis Khan and Timor Leng lose their supremacy over the Korashan, say Uzbekistan and Pakistan, the last Khan departs to India. His name is Akbar, and called himself from now on Shah.
He settled in Agra and Delhi, but also built a large palace in Amber in the hills near Jodhpur, the current capital of Radjastan.
In that palace, he was the happy owner of a harem of 5,000 girls.
The original inhabitants of Radjastan, called the Rajputs, led by the noble families of the Singhs and Rathors remained distrustful against the new ruler and his successors. The most famous successor, the grandson of Akbar Shah, Shah Jahan called. He was married to Mumtaz for whom he built the Taj Mahal a magnificent tomb.
One of the Singhs was wise to marry with the daughter of the Shah so he could hold the lead over Radjastan. He was the the Maharadja of Jodhpur and had more then one son, the eldest was his successor and the other sons went to another cities, let them grew large and where they built palaces with their own harem in it.
Influenced by the kings van Persia they let themselves portrayed in all possible circumstances. Sometimes with their court, sometimes with dignitaries, sometimes with their harem or their favorite woman. But also they let this miniatures binding together in books. Now today the palaces are museums and the miniatures are visible and making pictures is allowed without using flash. I have collected some of those pictures to show them in the Val d'Oise artgallery. especially those with the subject harem pleasures or female pleasures.
