When I first became aware of Sir Van's incredible talent I looked at his pieces over and over again, sinking into the world found within each. The stained glass colors were vibrant and eye catching, and the over-all feeling conveyed in each piece is the mysterious enigma of continual contented happiness.

The following is a brief interview I had the opportunity to have with Sir Van.

JulietteWhat is your art medium?

Sir Van:  Mostly I paint portraits on glass using Pebeo paint. I also do some abstracts on canvas and foam board.

Juliette: How long have you been creating?

Sir Van: Started in 8th grade...5 decades ago... .

Juliette: What inspires you?

Sir Van: Second Life and whatever flashes thru my imagination.

Juliette: Who is your favorite artist and why?

Sir Van: Van Gogh...colorful, imaginative and prolific.

Juliette: How would you describe your style?

Sir Van:  Modern impressionism and now adding splatters and splabs.

Juliette:  Which of your works is your favorite, and why?

Sir Van:  I have a dozen favorites and they change day to day. When things are going well my favorite is what I currently am working on.

Juliette:  Thank You, Sir Van.

His bio:

Van is known as Phil Strang in RL. He paints on glass. He does about 35 new paintings a year and about 1/2 of them are portraits of SL avatars.

If you ever would like a portrait done please contact him.

Most of his paintings are smaller than 8" by 10" in real life and he uses a type of paint called Pebeo. The paintings are baked onto the glass and then he has them professionally scanned and brought into SL.

In addition, due to losing most of his sight in his left eye he now is also doing some experimental abstracts on canvas and foam board. He is doing splatter paintings as well as two techniques get  created, Splips and Splabs. "Every eye closed is a window open"
