2023 Christmas Tree Lighting
"Everyone gather around"
With Sadie in his lap on the Santa Chair, Roissy Proprietiere Thomas continues, "Closer - santa does not bite..or not till after Christsmas."
"Welcome everyone to our 2023 Roissy Val d'Oise Christmas Tree lighting. Christmas time is always special in everyone's mind for a multitude of reasons. At the basic level, Christmas is a religious holiday.[10:13] Thomas (thomasx.xue): But it is much more, Christmas is very much a time to put aside differences that pervade during the year, and be of good cheer to everyone you meet.
It is also a time when we remember those friends and loved ones that are no longer with us.
"I know I do. The hustle and bustle of real life and second life becomes a joy, with shopping for gifts and planning holiday parties. People are friendlier and wish each other Merry Christmas. Some lament that it is too bad they are not this friendly during the year. It does however, make Christmas time special."
He takes a sip of punch, (I snuck some vodka in it...shhh) He rests back, refecting.. "You know something, my friends, Christmas is… well, it’s about the best time of the whole year. When you walk down the streets, even for weeks before Christmas comes, and there’s lights hanging up, green ones and red ones, sometimes there’s snow and everyone’s hustling some place. But they don’t hustle around Christmastime like they usually do. You know, they’re a little more friendlier… they bump into you, they laugh and they say, 'Pardon me. Merry Christmas'… especially when it gets real close to Christmas night. Everybody’s walking home, you can hardly hear a sound. Bells are ringin’, people are singing, the snow is coming down. And boy what a pleasure it is to think that you’ve got some place to go to." He smiles "We haev our Roissy Home to come to."
"And that the place that you’re going to, there’s somebody in it that you really love. Some one you’re nuts about. Merry Christmas everyone ! With this spirit and behalf of Rene, I light this tree and declare this Christmas season begun, here at our home of nearly 12 years, Roiissy Val d'Oise !"
With that, he lights the big tree and the crowd of family members cheers, and Gillian asks them to pose for the annual picture. Merry Christmas to all!
