Domino is a stage performance created by Frejya.

Domino is a story in stage action and dance inspired by and set to two tunes by the band Genesis, "Domino" and "The Brazilian."  This performance was created using skills Frejya gained in Second Life combined with sections of additional dance - via YouTube streaming on a large screen behind the stage. Additionally, being 80% deaf, Freyja admits to getting a particular buzz creating things to vibrant pieces of music especially since she had not listened to music for many years.  This wonderful and creative piece was presented to the Roissy community on three different dates through the month of September 2021.

Prior to each performance Freyja offered up the following insight into her creative process, skill set required and more that was required for putting the production together.

The name of "Domino" was chosen simply because it is the first piece of music, so she simply kept it. Freyja’s interpretation on the music is about the inevitability of death, perhaps somewhat different than the original lyricist.

The inspiration for the dance goes back to 1986 as a live event during a live performance by the band.  The original idea was a little different, featuring dancers falling over like dominoes. She also envisioned two times that a figure rises up in time with dramatic rousing music, which she has retained in this performance.  Freyja realized back in December 2020 that she had the skills within Second Life to make her dream come true and she began to put it together.

While the performance itself is only 15 minutes, the program took over 3,000 hours to fully understand the technical process and compose the specifics, which included smoke machines, fireworks, and a river of blood.  As Maitre Dusty declared so eloquently on behalf of us all during the first performance "WOW!  Such dedication."

Freyja let her creative juices flow evidenced by the organized chaos and eventual serenity of the performance.

Well done, we can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
