Over two weeks in early March, Mistress Derry tickled the Roissy funny bone with a baby photo caption contest culminated by a raise-the-rooftop dance – with clowns, free hats, balloons, and a hilarious dunking booth.
The sim received a total donation of $L 5,246 as gracious volunteers, including Maitres Thomas and Dusty, Mistresses Petra and Derry, Master Dom, and others, allowed anyone with an accurate throwing arm a chance to knock them into a pool of water – and donate money for the privilege. A sampling of not-so-restrained hoots and howls:
“I have seen better pitchers at a Tupperware party!”
“Yes but to dunk me I want a minium bid of 100L I don't get no respect!”
“Hit me! go ahead! ....I totally believe in revenge.”
“No eggs! If you throw eggs I'll fry em up and make you eat em.”
“Maybe Sherlock Holmes could find the bulls-eye for you!”
“I've seen better pitches by a used car salesman!”
(Dusty, winking at Tzeitel) “If I get in the booth, I know someone who will pay a lot of money”
"Someone soiled this water before me.”
“Oh come one, I've seen better arms on a beanbag chair!”
“Good thing you're tall Thomas, keeps your hair dry.”
“Is your suit waterproof Master Dom?”
“Wash and wear, Rebecca.”
“That pitch wasn't even in this time zone!”
“We need an eye doctor on the sim... can't people see the target?”
The caption contest, set up about two weeks before the party, asked members to write funny captions for six pictures showing babies in funny situations – and later vote for their favorites. The winners, (after Derry recused herself) were:
